形態特徵

• Perennial herb 0.2-0.8 m, erect, branching above; stems solitary or few, terete, eglandular.
• Leaves in perfoliate pairs; lamina 2.5-3-7(8) cm long, 1-3.5 cm broad, broadly or narrowly lanceolate to oblong or oblanceolate, apex rounded, often broader at the common base, chartaceous, paler or glaucous beneath, with ca. 4 ascending laterals and fine lax reticulate venation, dense intramarginal dark glands and numerous laminar glandular dots, varying in size and from mostly pale to mostly dark.
• Inflorescence many-flowered, corymbose, usually with up to 6 axillary flowering branches, forming a lax corymbose to cylindric panicle; flowers 6-10(-15) mm in diam., plane, with a cup-shaped base, in bud ovoid, obtuse; sepals 3-7(-10) mm long, 1-3 mm broad, oblong or elliptic to oblong-spatulate or oblong-linear, rounded, entire, with variously spaced intramarginal dark glands and ± numerous laminar pale (and rarely dark) dots and streaks, erect in fruit; petals 4-8(-13) mm long, 1.5-4(-7) mm broad, elliptic-oblong, bright yellow, persistent, with small dark, sessile or subsessile marginal glands and laminar pale (and vary rarely a few dark) glands and short streaks; stamen fascicles 3, persistent, each with an average of 10-14 stamens; anthers bright yellow, with black gland; ovary ca. 2 mm long, ovoid to narrowly pyramidal, 3-locular, the styles longer (2.5-3 mm in Taiwan; shorter elsewhere), free, spreading from the base.
• Capsule 6-9 mm long, 4-5 mm broad, broadly ovoid to broadly or narrowly ovoid-pyramidal, with scattered ovoid to ± elongate vesicular glands; seeds ca. 1 mm long, orange-brown, markedly longitudinally ribbed, not carinate, without terminal appendage.
• The perfoliate leaves and vesicular capsule glands distinguish <i>H. sampsonii</i> from all other Taiwan species.

分布

• 台灣 : northern Taiwan. roadsides, grassy places, cultivated margins, coast to ca. 300 m.
• 世界 : Japan, Ryukyus, mainland China, northern Vietnam, eastern Myanmar, India (Assam).
